Not so foolish after all and other things...
Phil Started conversation Jul 28, 2000
Well I did get to talk to the other person involved in the feeling foolish episode (see below) so i guess what I did wasn't that foolish after all - they're still willing to talk to me .
Today I'm going to be going off and spending the weekend finishing off a scuba course. Diving, makes you think of sunny places coral reefs and lots of pretty fish to look at. Not so for me, a flooded gravel pit in Cambridgeshire, visibility is good if it gets to more than 3m.
Still I've got to start somewhere and I think I'm looking forward to it but it still is rather daunting.

Not sure what you did there, but it seems to have worked itself through. Was it here or RL? (email if you don't want to expose yourself in public, which could be an embarrasment in itself. You didn't though, did you?
)
Have a great weekend. You never know what you might discover in murky water.

RL situation. It was just my paranoid mind after all, as when I saw the person concerned there was no mention of it and we had a nice chat as well.
The weekend has been great. Very hard work as we tried to complete most of the skills on the saturday to give extra time on the sunday for anything which caused problems. During the last dive on saturday I started getting ear trouble so I had to surface and get out, then today (sunday) was I was fine. I completed all the required skills and then went out on a dive with two of the other newly qualified divers (I did go down with the other but she got cold quite quickly so we ascended and got out). I now have the most basic certification for diving, guess it means I've now got to go and dive!

Minds have a very nasty habit of playing tricks like that on you sometimes. I could probably tell you exactly why too, if the Psychology bit of my brain hadn't got switched off til September. I'm currently reading lots of stuff in preparation for the change of syllabus and scenery. The 100 days has gone too fast.
It sounds like a wonderful weekend. Well done on the certification. Where will you go to practice the new skills?

Probably all due to having had several drinks beforehand I recon (and loads of other reasons which are rather hard to find the right words for )
I think I'll probably go back to the pool. It's nice and warm, you can see wat's going on easily and there is no worry about it all. I want to go diving now, but need to sort a holiday or something out then worry about diving afterwards.
So how is everything going with the move and getting ready for the new school? How are the little uns taking it all? (and how are you feeling about it all now?)

Please feel free to email me if you want to.
Girls are very excited, but of course they don't have the stress, the bills etc. I make it sound like a big adventure, so it is.
I am a bit nervous about the new job, but found it very traumatic leaving my old job. I spent most of the last week in tears.

I'm sure it will all work out fine for you, you can't give up now you've got this far.
*Wonders if words of encouragement will have the desired effect*

How strange! I'm never here in the daytime at my own expense, but just got the feeling I should pop by.
Your original words about the 100 days were the best thing anyone said to me then. It has helped me to take things gradually. I take a very big step, and I am excited, and I know it will be fine, and I know I can do it, but there's a lot to do, and "the buck stops here" as they say.
Ta for encouragement.

I know that everytime I end up moving somewhere I get scared about what's going to happen, is it the right move and all that. Just keep plugging away and take it one step at a time. One of the comments I was told before going out to do my first dive (after finishing the course on sunday) was plan the dive and dive the plan. I suppose it's a bit like that, plan what's happening and then do the plan and it should all work out OK.
Tonight it's off canoeing and I should see the person who started off the comment in the subject line

I'm for you.
I agree, it's often a really good stage to be at , and when you do the most talking. Make it last.
I like to talk.

I will.
As long as you let me know how the move is going.
