I'm not going to ask about the mayo, if that's okay.
The best way to meet people is to visit guide entries that interest you, and discuss them. I've got a list of a few clubs and things on my page, that are great social experiences.
Or you could just visit random users and leave them a message. It's a great way to meet people. It's basically how I met you.
