I emigrated to Australia aged 7 with my family in 1959 and spent 2 years in a transit camp in Elizabeth, which was then a village outside Adelaide. I attended the local primary school (Springfield Primary , I think) and have very fond memories of my time there. I know Adelaide has grown and changed enormously in 40 years, but I would be fascinated to see what that area looks like now. dioes anyone know if Springfield Primary exists? What happened to the transit camp site?
