MZ racing - forks

You say that some modifiers 'lower the forks in the yokes' thus raising the front of the bike and others 'shorten the forks' thus lowering the front of the bike. Is this because some owners wish to increase the fork trail by lifting the front of the bike and others prefer to reduce the fork trail by lowering the front of the bike? Which is the best compromise - a raised CofG with the beneficial increased trail that you mention first, or the lowered CoG with reduced fork trail you mention second?
Perhaps other such modifiers would also appreciate a guide on this before trying both options themselves. J Wagstaff
