A Conversation for How do I...?

Here's another question for you silver surfers. When I was a kid I used to hear a country&western song (more like a monologue)on the wireless, called "Life gets teedjus, dont it?". I dont know who sang it but I would like to perform it in a cabaret that is being organised. Does anyone know the words, or indeed, know what I am talking about?

I think I know the one you mean, I've a funny feeling it was done by Spike Jones & His City Slickers, I'll have to ask Great Granny Weatherwax. I'll get back to you

Great Granny has just landlined to say that it wasn't Slim Whitman after all, apparently Terry Wogan quoted part of it either today or yesterday (I know I've got a sad mommy). Perhaps you could try good old Aunti Beeb to find out who 'sang' it and then we could take it from there.

Thanks, gran. The snippets of text are really helpful but I think that it wasn't by Slim Whitman, I've got a feeling it was Monty something, Monty Woolley perhaps. I'll keep searching, but thanks for your help.
