Where do I learn to make cheese? Is it an apprenticeship thing, or do you go to a cheesemaker's college?

Good question. I don't know. I doubt it's taught at agricultural college (maybe though). You could try and find some books and see if you can follow the instructions. Are there any cheese makers or dairy farms near you who you might be able to ask?

Is mise Duncan

In order to get a qualification in cheesemaking you will need to look for a course which is approved by the cheesemakers guild (I'm not making this up, honest) but if you just want to learn for your own enjoyment there are books - try your municipal library.

Gandalf ( Got my own Comp Now!! Still Redundant!! )

The BASIC recipe for cheese making is thus....

Milk, salt, rennett

The rennett curdles the milk.
Separate the curds (the solid bits) from the whey (the liquid)
Throw the liquid away.
Strain the curds through muslin until all the liquid is gone.
What is left in the muslin is cheese.

I'd still get a book from the library though, to get EXACT instructions!!
