Is it possible to get the fluid in a lava lamp clear again once it has gone cloudy? If it has to be replaced, what do you replace it with?

According to the best site on lava lamps I could find ( www.oozinggoo.com ), there is no way to repair a cloudy lava lamp. Once the mixture of mineral oil, propylene glycol, dyes, and paraffin wax gets cloudy there's nothing much you can do about it. You could buy a replacement at oozinggoo.com or mathmos.com, the original lava lamp company from the UK. There are also instructions for making your own lava lamp at oozinggoo.com.
Sorry about your loss. But here's a bit of synchronicity. The inventor of the lava lamp, Edward Craven Walker, died last Tuesday. Perhaps your lava lamp was feeling sympathetic.

Sorry, Gandalf. I understand it must be very hard news to take for a lava lamp lover.

You can buy a replacement bottle, rather than having to get a whole new lamp assembly. This would be considerably cheaper.
