A Conversation for How do I...?

Find a Folder in Windows

I have completely lost 'My Photographs' folder in trying to move photos into that folder. I must've integrated it into another folder. I've tried the 'Search' facility for files but not getting anywhere. How do I search for folders?

In the Start Search box type 'Shell:My Pictures' and press enter. If the folder still exists, this should move it into the start menu, and from there you can put it where you want.

Well, I found it by this process. But it didn't move into the Start Menu, so I've copied it and am now pasting it into its proper place. This is taking about 40 minutes.

Same thing happened to me, Big Al. I have no idea what happened but now I have My Pictures somewhere else entirely. I've tried moving it back to where it should be but I ended up with two My Pictures files that screws up my Picassa files (I ended up with duplicates of everything). Gaaah.

Yes, I've got quite a few duplicate photos as well.

Also, since I re-booted Windows (due to infection by a Trojan)my photos are no longer in Windows Photo Manager.

I don't know how to get them to be recognised by this smiley - erm

The way I solved the duplicate photos problem was to remove the original Pictures file and use the second one that showed up in my Documents. It means a couple of extra clicks to get to the photos, but better than having duplicates.

I've never used Windows Photo Manager. Is it like Picasa?
