How do I get rid of little red ants?

Have tried commercial ant poison, chalk, baking soda, blocking the entries with soap and setting liquid sugar traps but they keep coming

Kettle full o' boiling water in the nest always does the trick for me.

There's more than one species of "red" ant and there's more than one type of poison.

Apparently ants hate talcum powder - might be worth a try - definitely non toxic
