Dunno about the rest of it but GuideML is a doozy even if you don't know any other code languages. There's a nice & easy introductory page listed in the Guide (+ a link to it off my home page if you don't like browsing). Hope that's helpful...

Just play with it. Write your page or whatever as you usually would then stick the s and whatever around the text. It's really easy once you get the hang of it - you can learn the basics in 15 minutes.
