It sure is....you never know where your thoughts might go and who they might bump into...
Just recovering from Xmas...too long away from my computer

On the road myself, I really like computers for the way I can send and recieve messages even if I'm on a totally different schedual and in some indeterminate place. Well we have established that your thoughts wander , but along what lines?

Hmmm.....what lines you ask...
Well anything that catches my interest my thoughts will wander over and browse through it, though my thoughts do tend to like Medieval things...oh and subjects about Dragons.
I'll read anything from car fix-it manuals to the theory of Time Travel...much of what I read I definately dont understand but its fun learning new things and trying to understand.
My thoughts are very eclectic indeed...

Ah, another reader. That makes you a Good Person by definition. Did you read the cereal boxes at the breakfast table as a kid?
Let your thoughts wander around here and you never know what will happened. I followed you home from some other forum where you'd posted. That happens a lot around here, I think. Don't worry, though, as far as I can tell the Researchers here are Mostly Harmless.
Of course if you like both dragons & time-travel there's always the Pern books...though I may have outgrown those. Rather disquieting sensation, that.

The dragons are very much in Ageless777 's interests to ( http://www.h2g2.com/U103053 ) as witness the images on her home page http://members.delphi.com/ageless777/index.html . I think she just got another Pern book to. I tend towards the hard sciences myself , but I'll go well out of my way for anything that is funny. I'm also a victim of obsessive reading , at 8 hours a day 7 days a week it would take me over a year just to re-read the books on hand ( assuming 2 to 3 books in 8 hours ) , and thats not counting the ones I lost in a fire years back . Mostly SF , some history and fantasy. The tech reference library of course is reffered to , not read.

Hmmm, at that rate it would take something like 3 years to reread all of our nontechnical books...but perhaps we've been collecting longer. In practice I find I go through 30-50 books a month, depending on how hard I'm actually working at the time. But it's still comforting to have the thousands of old friends on the shelves.

Yep , I deliberately quit speed reading as I had a 50 book a week habit at one point , I just couldn't afford it. Most of them went up in smoke along with the old cabin though. Hmm, if you're a dedicated SF fan maybe I should give you a trivia question , do you know what book my handle came from?

That's not all that trivial -- The Stars My Destination, Alfred Bester, isn't it?

Cute. Thanks, I needed a chuckle this morning...I'm avoiding the big pile of accounting paperwork that I need to get through today. Year end is such a wonderful time.
