RE: Manhole covers

Post 1

CyberLama

Hi,

I had a question about my entry regarding the Roman Empire and their usage of aqueducts and plumbing.

Do I really need to cover the whole gamut of various types of sewage systems in order to explain a manhole cover?

I would be more than happy to have a second entry on manholes or sewers but if I start writing about them I could be here for weeks working on this entry.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

No i dont think you do. You just need to make that sentence correct as it is wrong as it stands.

For example:

"From as early as 3500BC slabs of stone or pieces of wood were used to cover the ditches that carried sewage waste in small villages. Several civalizations developed this further, for example, the Romans had a complex system of waterworks, but modern sewage systems were not developed until (i dont knwo when they were). As time progressed it was mandated that tunnels or tubes were used to dispose of waste in order to stop the spread of infectious disease."

Im not to sure about using the word modern there though as its hard to define what a modern system is. Maybe something like hygenic or widespread would be better words.

I hope that helps. At the end of the day it is your article, so include what you want in it.

smiley - cheers SI x
