h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

There is something weird, a little nasty, about the feeling that is in the air over this Milennium Madness affair... I just get this sensation, walking around in grey London streets.
I don't get the sense that a great party is coming-it feels more like everybody is sort of bracing themselves for a calamity of some kind... I just described it to a friend as the Chicken Coop Sensation...any farmer will tell you that if you have a crowded pen full of chickens, they become restless, start fighting, and if one of them should get a cut and show a little blood, the others will pounce on it and kill it... if you've ever seen it, there's this weird tension in the group,
when passive beasts suddenly develop a taste for meat.
I won't be hiding in my flat New years Eve- but betwwen drinks I'll be keeping an eye out, too.
