Pre-moderation Birthday
Tango Started conversation Oct 1, 2004
One year ago yesterday (so I missed the day... it's kind of traditional here, isn't it?) I was put on pre-moderation. And above this text box, it tells me:
"Please note: Your Postings are being pre-moderated and will only appear after they have been approved by a Moderator."
So that's one year and one day of premod. My understanding of the premod feature is to allow the editors to stop someone breaking the rules while they either learn the error of their ways, or are banned. I can't see why either of those things should take over a year...
I think the story behind me being put on premod, and the various events leading up to it, is known to everyone that cares - and many that don't, no doubt, so I won't go into it here. Let it just be known that I stand by everything I said at the time, and if I could relive it I would do it pretty much exactly the same (although I might try and remember what name I'm using... ).
For my birthday presents, I would like to be taken off premod - it's getting silly, and also be given access to the CA archives - just for the sake of it really, i've moved on, and am not going to try and reform h2g2. I'd also kind of like to see what was said on there about me - might make an interesting read.
Enough talking - this is a birthday, so let's party, everyone is invited. My girlfriend said she might drop by, and I promised there would be cake, so:

Way to casually mention the gf
I'm so proud of you. One year. You really must be the most annoying b*****d imaginable. Love you.
*sits on towel and eats cake.

Hey Tango! I wondered where you'd gone after your pre-announcement announcement. I'll avoid the cake but I do have my own towel. Now, where are the poolside sunbeds? It's not that I want to go out in the sun (I have an umbrella to hide behind just in case there is any sign of any) - it's more to make a statement. Hmm... perhaps I could attach the towel to the umbrella stick and make a protest flag instead.

You should check out Spook's journal. If memory serves, he has a pool filled with... um... I don't remember... but we had a fight which involved throwing people in it...

There probably should be a pool if this is a really prestigious party. Even for a little garden party it is possible to set up a paddling pool. Without a pool where would the rubber ducky go?

I thought that your tagline was a joke and you had left pre-mod after a couple of weeks. Okay, so you obviously posted one year with this notorious delay.
I see only two possibilities: Either h2g2 fails to manage the pre-mod list and forgot you simply. Or, they behave quite arrogantly. I'd be disappointed in both cases.
Sorry for being a party-pooper ...

You obviously just weren't aware of what goes on round here.

Well, let me put it this way: I'm not interested in details. I know the cause of all this, and now I know that's still going on, and this is enough for me being irritated about it.

I think the most likely explanation is that I've been forgotten. I haven't been posting here much, so they probably haven't realised i'm still being moderated. (Hi Mod! )

Hehe, you can always talk to the Mods. Like taking photos of messages for the developing people at Boots.

You can't talk to mods. Only me and SEF can talk to mods (Hi Mod!) because we're special (or words to that effect).
I've never thought of developing messages for the developers... that's a nice idea... although I expect it's a more interesting job than being a mod (Sorry you have to read all this drivle, Mr. Mod).

I don't suppose the messages go as far as Boots, but in theory we could post messages which require "developing" in another way in order to be seen. The experiments (quite a while back now) went OK.

Maybe it's because it's 11:30, and I'm not feeling well, but I have idea what you're talking about...

I don't think the time makes much of a difference. Needing to go to sleep and not feeling well might. However, I mostly think it's just your dodgy memory. Mind altering substances, such as alcohol for the occasion of the party, wouldn't even be necessary as I don't believe they've been relevant in the past. You wouldn't remember that though.
