Dung Beetles

are very industrious critters. I had the opportunity to observe these wild and wondorous bugs at work on an outing in the backwoods of Arkansas. There I was, squatting in the bushes while, unbeknownst to myself, a crowd of dung beetles had gathered below. Do you know they push their little balls of dung backwards, for long distances? These balls must weigh at least TWICE what the beetles weigh... life is just amazing.

You are right... life is amazing... makes me think what death will be like...

I think death will be rather boring... returning to a state of cosmic ether lacks sensation and light... that's why its so peaceful.

I tried thinking about it it terms of that whole burning in hell/rejoicing in heaven context... just doesn't make sense... energy cannot be destroyed, not even in the fires of hell... we must just disperse evenly into a cosmic gruel...

Very intriguing.... but it has a very different outcome when considered from the perspective of a Buddhist

i am not saying that you don't cycle thru the wheel, that is necessary. The cosmic gruel is the source from whence you were spawned, and your eventual final resting place...in no way do i suggest it is slimy, like gruel... more like, an infinite number of ballbearings suspended at an equal distance... moving smoothly and in harmony... but do you suppose dung beetles could hold the secrets of the universe? could you?
sporadically yours,

I suppose, but I'd put my faith more into scarabs
