Exciting news indeed!
Have you managed to get any closer to an answer regarding the safe passage of a spaceship through a singularity in the 2 1/2 years since you wrote that, or still working on it?

It seems like it might be possible for an object to sucessfully cross the event horizon with only a minimum of trouble but you would never return and it's difficult to surmise what would happen after that.
