As I understand it, you can post outside links on your user pages but not in a forum posting.
Some of my yarns that have been moderated have had the outside links left in them.

Plus I have got referenced sites on my page
This appears at the bottom of the referenced site thing on the right-hand side of my home space. It seems to say outside links are OK

I saw that... but it says that the links are only allowed in entries... such as a user page, or an entry about a certain subject... off to look at gar- whatevers.

Hiya. Sorry to bust in the conversation here, but I hadn't noticed that new rule yet either, and it piqued my interest, so I posted a question about it on the House Rules page (A516034). It is rather imaginitively titled "External Sites". 
I'm curious to see what the official plain-English version of it is.

You're not the only one... it isn't very nice having a whole journal entry removed Very ... it makes me feel very removed from h2g2.
I wonder if they'd remove this entry if I dared say something as shocking as

I just found one I think the moderators missed.. but I can't recall where.. It went to a site at a University in the US and was about a planet discovery.. definitely off the beeb servers and definitely old enough (months in fact...) to have been past the mods. 
Makes me -so- happy.
