Ann Richards died today; she was previously the Texas governor and has long been one of the most amazing women I had ever met.

That article neatly summarizes the wonderful things she did for politics, the Democratic party, and the state of Texas.
Here's what I remember.
She rode a motorcycle. She found the time to meet with random Brownie troops, and treated low-income Black girls like they were people, not a photo opportunity. Even when she was still in office, you'd run into her at Taco Bell and she'd stop and chat, even though you were a total stranger. And she dyed her hair purple for Halloween one year, I seem to remember.
She will be missed. In a lot of ways, she already was.

I heard about this on Morning Edition, an hour or two ago. She's been added to my 'Dropping like flies' thread.
Mikey, would you like a copy of the 'Don't talk during the movie or we'll take your ass out' sting she did for the Drafthouse earlier this year? It's probably too big for me to email since it's at the end of our ad tape (which runs to many MB) so I'll probably have to put it on a CDR and snailmail it... unless I find a host for my url and put it up on my own website. I really ought to do that y'know.
