Hmmm... that could have been one of mine... is there a hole where my toes would normally go???
Where do all the socks go?
Zaphod Posted Dec 5, 1999
Ah !
Now, this one I can DEFINITELY help with...
The socks don't actually disappear see; what happens is that the wishy-washy back & forth action you get in a properly set up washing machine sets up a vortex close to the centre of the bowl that actually creates a wormhole in space. It just so happens that socks are shaped so that they can slip through the wormhole and reappear in your wardrobe as those nasty steel coat-hangers.
You've never bought any of those have you, but you've lost plenty of socks... Think on't

Where do all the socks go?
Bluebottle Posted Dec 5, 1999
Now that's a good explanation - apart from the fact that I don't have a wardrobe.
So whose wardrobe gets all my socks?
Where do all the socks go?
Zaphod Posted Dec 5, 1999
Hmmmmmm....
You got me there, Blue One.
But maybe some people get more coat-hangers than they lose socks; just another example of the intrinsic inequality in the fabric of the sockiverse.
Where do all the socks go?
Bluebottle Posted Dec 5, 1999
Hmm - you may well be right. But it's extremely unfair considering I lose socks and don't get any coat hangers in return. Not that you can hang your remaining socks up, anyway.

I don't have wire coathangers... but me makes quite a good profit on spare socks that I find about the place... lots of one legged folk out there you know...
They are terribly happy that the now don't have to buy a pair of socks and throw one away!!!!

There's your explanation Bluebottle; Greebo's gottem.
Greebo, what if you have left socks and the customer has a right leg?
However, I'm more concerned as to why you have Bluebottles socks in the first place...
Where do all the socks go?
GreeboTCat Posted Dec 6, 1999
No worries... me got both left and right leg socks on hand... and the reason me got The Buzzing Ones socks is because of a wormhole in his washing machine of course...

StoobyB Posted Dec 6, 1999
I on the other hand just loose mine under Greebo's bed... The worm hole problem is easily fixed witht that net bag I mentioned ages ago... must upset the rotation of the drum and throw off the equilibrium of the worm hole I guess...

Sounds sweaty too!
