h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I don't think theres such thing as 'modern art' as such. All art is art. But I hate this title 'modern art' because people use it as an excuse to have no talent and still be taken seriously. I saw a picture once, that was classed as modern art, it was just a big orange picture with a yellow square in one corner. What the f*ck? It was being sold for over a thousand quid! My baby sister could do better than that! I'm not narrow minded but thats just cr*p. Art is supposed to tell you something, its supposed to express what the artist is feeling, it should tell a story, it should make you feel something but that doesn't. Its like the dude just couldn't be bothered that day so he painted th whole thing orange, then put a blob of yellow on the corner and said its 'modern art' and suddenly that name makes it credible!

I have nothing against the idea of modern art, I love the idea of not having to stick to the rules, and to really be able to express yourself but when people use it as an excuse for being talentless, or because they know that the stupid art critics with fall for it (and we all know that for an art critic to take ou seriously you have to be really cr*p) so they get loads of money for something that cost ten minutes to do, then thats buggin'.

That's not the worst. I once saw an alleged painting valued at 20,000 U.S. dollars composed entirely of white. It was white brush strokes on a white canvas... that's it. They even had two paragraphs written on it, talking about the use of 48 shades and the nihilism the painting embodies. I could not see any different shades, it was just a big chunk of white canvas.I might as well have stayed home, as my walls are a slightly more pleasant shade of white, and have interesting little swirls in them. When you are willing to pay 20,000 for what is in my book a blank, colorless piece of canvas, you need to get a life or tell me how to cash in.

Dude that is so un-art I can't believe people take it seriously!Art is all about expression, and that isn't expressing anything.
