A Conversation for Brussels, Belgium

This is a nice little bit of information for me to add to my pre-travel journal I have a visit to Leuven planned already. I decided the Manneken Pis is not on my list of "Must See." Same reason Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria isn't. Too touristy. But, I have been playing with the idea of seeing the Atomium even though it is touristy.
The best part of this article for me is the introduction to Belgium beers. I am a newbie to beer and I need all the guidance I can get

Please visit the Manneken Pis area, not for Manneken Pis of course but for the area around it, the area around the Grand Place is unique, not just for the joy of sitting in a terrace on the Grand Place admiring the beautiful buildings and the area and atmosphere in general but you will discover great little shops, cafes, fantastic restaurants and sights to see all around the area, things which are unique to Belgium and to Brussels. You should walk the 3 or so kilometers around the Grand Place, take your time, spend the whole day, you WILL NOT be dissapointed.
You can come to Belgium and NOT see the Atonium, that is fine but you can't come to Belgium and NOT see the Grand Place, this would be a very big mistake.

Thank you very much for the advice! I will certainly add it to my plans on your endorsement alone. That is just the kind of advice I need for this trip.
