I am recovering

from another headache attack. This one was way worse. Fortunately they don't last that long; usually from half an hour to one and a half hours, unfortunately they come at least twice every 24 hours.
Actually that's not quite true. Wednesday I was almost headache free. I just had a minor one during the evening.
Over the years my relation to my headaches have changed. I usually never thought about them when i didn't have them. I forgot all about them. I went long periods without any headaches at all. I never felt any signs that I ever had headaches when they weren't there. It was a mystery to me. One moment pain and the next; poof, it's gone.
Now I take pills in the hopes of preventing them. Every day. Muscle relaxing pills, and painkillers. It doesn't work. Once the headache's started I don't bother. I just get a bag og ice, lock myself in the dark bathroom, and wait for it to go away.
It still works like magic. I can always tell when I have reached to point when its going to go away. It goes away, and I am left to wonder what it is; which button did I push? What is it that makes the difference between pain and no pain?
I never forget about my headaches anymore. There's is always a pain in the left side of my jaw, and in my left temple. All the muscles on the left side of my face and neck are always sore, and most of the time I feel just slightly nausues.
