You know they're coming out with a Red Dwarf movie? It's got all the original cast in. Even Captain Hollister! By the way what was your favorite episode?

Yup... we were discussing the movie on the Red Dwarf Message Boards (WERE being the operative word) Has it really got all the original cast in? That's great! Who's playing Holly this time?
Favourite episode... hmmm... well there's a few I haven't seen for a while... (isn't it about time for the repeats?!) Probably 'Better Than Life', and also 'Gunmen of the Apocalypse'. I love all the VR ones!
How about you?

Okay...
The film is due out in Autumn 2002, hopefully.
Danny John Jules has stated that there will NOT be another series.

I knew about the movie, that should be very good.
But I didn't know that they weren't doing any more series.

On The RedDwarf home page, It says that another series is in the works. Anyways my favorite episode would be Backwards, or the first Dwayne Dibley episode, or The Ace Rimmer episode, or.....

Of course there could be another series 'in the works' right now, but presumably not after the film. If Cat is leaving, I suppose Lister could always go into stasis again and this time leave a pregnant dog/chimpanzee/tarantula, etc, to evolve for 3 million years.
Actually, the chimpanzee idea could be interesting...
Or perhaps it would be too much like 'Red Dwarf meets Planet of the Apes'.
Yeah... I liked 'Backwards' too... epsecially when the dressing room scene was replayed forwards in the Smeg Outs tape.

Mister Fribble wants to know who ate all the kippers...?
Best episode ever for first-time, surprise value and unexpected lack of plot and action has to be Rimmerworld. No not the one where he falls through a black hole and has 700 years to create a planet of Rimmer clones - no, the one where Kryton has set up a theme park eulogy in memory of Rimmer. Dave,Cat,Kryton, and that chick (I can't spell Catchanski...) ride a roller-coaster car past Rimmer memorabilia and singing dancing Rimmers. It does not bear seeing twice in any one year.
Best episode for seeing over and over is very early on, the one with the old cat proclaiming Dave is god.
So how long has it been since there was a 'new' tv series of this caliber? Must we wait much longer? Where is the next Dr Who, the next H2G2, the next Red Dwarf - huh - where!

*starts singing the Rimmer Munchkin song from series 7*
#If you're in trouble he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless come what may
Without him the mission would go astray
He's Arnold Arnold Arnold Rimmer
Without him life would be much grimmer
He's handsome, trim, and no-one's slimmer
He will never need a zimmer
He's Arnold Arnold Arnold Rimmer
More reliable than a garden strimmer
He's never been mistaken for Yul Brinner
He's not bald and his head doesn't glimmer...#
Can't spell Kochanski? It's easy... *hides video case behind back*

I read an interview which said that although the film would start at the beginning and go in a different direction to the series, and not resolve the cliff-hanger of Red Dwarf VIII, there were plans to do at least one TV special to resolve it.
So true, they may not do another series, but if they do 2 or three hour long specials, it amounts to almost the same thing...

Yay, Pegasus, that's the one! It was all so unexpected that episode.
Cuz, like Rimmer had been gone for several shows. It was then that I realised I really missed the little weenie.
Cliffhanger ..what cliffhanger? They were all in jail last I saw.
Or do you mean where Kochanski (thanks again) falls into the void between universes and Dave shoots her in the leg with an arrow? That was cliff hanging at its funniest! Wish I could wear red the way she does (sigh).

Glad I'm not the only one to have missed the "cliffhanger" then.
Pretty dull series that. Too many actors spoil the broth... or something.

Hope they've managed to come up with some new gags for the film. Who's writing the script this time?
