Glad you enjoyed it. I thought I did pretty well in difficult circumstances. I had to cope with two unexpected factors in quick succession - first being confronted with Ms Hathy, then finding that she was complaining about being misrepresented on the PUDDING page and elsewhere. That made me uncertain and defensive at the beginning, but I rallied quite well.

And as I've said in the report, the lady really did protest too much. Her organisation does indeed propose fines for grumpiness and produce special hats for the grumpy, as I found out after the interview by checking their website.

Having said all that, to be honest, I have found the whole episode ultimately a bit troubling. I stand by everything I said in the interview - in fact, I'm more certain now that I was right than I was at the time I said it. It's just that when I listened to myself, I was struck by how cynical I sounded.

I may have been right, but I still wish that I didn't have to feel that way. I'm just mourning lost innocence, I suppose.

Just to let you know that you aren't the only one who thinks she is a bit sinister, not to mention mad.

Thanks a lot for that, GD - I really feel much better after reading those, and I have several more names to add to the 'Heroes of PUDDING' list. I suggested a book called 'The Power Of Negative Thinking' as a joke - it's great to see that someone's actually written it!

I also particularly like Barbara S. Held's comment about 'the tyranny of the positive attitude', and the title of her book 'Stop Smiling, Start Kvetching'. What a !
