Having just spent the last year and a half traversing the entire M25 several times a day five days a week, I have noticed a pattern, which I will share with you for the benefit of all human kind (well, those who wish to use the M25 anyway).
Clockwise traffic will be <10MPH junctions 1-2, 4-6,10-21, 24-26, 28-29, and 30
Anticlockwise traffic will be <10MPH junctions 31, 29-28, 26-24, 21-12,6-5,3-1
That's pretty much it for the rush hour any given day of the week. Expect worse delays three days out of five due to accidents.
How Long?

Most of the population seems to spend 90% of their time on the M25, but no-one seems to be able to tell me how long ago it was opened?
