A Conversation for Halloween

Actually before I started writing this one up I scoured h2g2.com looking for anything that seemed remotely halloweeny for me, including just stuff that was spooky or gross or whatever. I was hoping for more pieces like about vampires or werewolves, but the list I came up with was pretty good.
I then started working the actual text of the piece around all the links I had found. I attempted to work every link into the text. I think I ended up deleting about five that just didn't tie in with the rest.
I'd like to encourage more interactive linking in h2g2. I think it would make the place that much more interesting if the content text was more dynamic and clickable.
And thank YOU for the story of Mad Anthony. If you have any other ghost stories that you write up please let me know and I'll try to work them into this piece.

I'll see what I can do...
Between me, my father and grandmothers, we have a host of "useless" information about Pennsylvania. That happens wheyn your family has lived in one state since 1783!

hmmm, sorry to be negative but finding a bunch of links and working the piece around them makes it come across really stilted in place. I'm all for what you're trying to do, and I totally agree that multiconnectivity in the guide is a good thing. I just feel that the links should come naturally from there being a whole lot of guide entries rather than the prose being tiwsted and mashed to fit links in.

I agree that the final result is stilted in places. In some places I did that on purpose in a weak attempt at humor, like when I mention prawns for example. Eventually I'm assuming the text will change and some of the links will go. I also believe though that overall we should try to make all the guide entries more 'clickable' where appropriate. There should be more cross referencing in h2g2.com.

I also enjoyed the Halloween article.
It inspired research and the creation of an article on Samhain [P189470]
I agree that there should be more cross referencing, and have therefore obediently linked from Samhain to Halloween.
However I do find Bywater's links somewhat exhausting...
interesting,
... but exhausting
Key: Complain about this post
