I came home on Saturday to find that my room was not livable, and I'm still fixing it. It was and still mostly is completely disgusting. And it's going to take a long time before I can move back into my room. For now I have to keep moving things out. And school starts tomorrow!!!
So... I'll tell you all about what I've been doing since I got home and why I am in such hideously horrible pain. Details to follow.

Ok, so prepare to drown me in sympathy... I shall summarize as much as humanly possible.
Saturday: Got home in the morning. Some of you know that I was really really really looking forward to this. I got there to find that my room was unlivable due to a fruit fly infestation. And I mean the air was black with them. My dad and my brother helped me carry things downstairs (which included hamsters and a rabbit) and the three of us got a face full of fruit flies, no exaggeration here. My cousins room (which is right next to mine, we turned a big room into two smaller rooms when we moved in- after S, my cousin-in-law, and I cleaned up the space, which was worse then than it is now) was even worse and was, naturally, the source of the problem. He had junk piled in my room and much garbage in his. My dad and I took out three garbage bags full. It was extremely disgusting, one of them was leaking a LOT and now (when M, my cousin, finally gets the rest of his stuff out) I have to very thoroughly clean the carpet and the walls. I could go into a lot more detail here because there was even more mess, but I won't.
Suffice it to say, I did not sleep here that night. I slept at J (my other cousin) and S's (his wife) apartment (they just moved out of here, I'm sleeping in the room that used to be there's until I can get my own space back). It was S's birthday Saturday so I planned to spend Sunday with her anyways, but instead I slept over there Saturday and Sunday night. J came home from work Sunday with a fever of 102.4. He was very sick indeed. I had a lovely time with them though. We made lava cakes and had lots of fun. It was very nice because I hadn't seen them all summer and now we don't live together.
Before I went over Saturday night though I was helping M move... Even though I swore I would not because of what he did to the basement... Again. But I did help. I helped pack stuff and carry very very very heavy stuff. Stuff that he even had a hard time lifting. I also helped again on Monday. Which included moving an 125gal aquarium and all of its occupants. My legs are COVERED in bruises. And I mean big, dark, uncomfortable bruises.
I had an absolutely lovely time Tuesday though. I went to school and got my UPass (which saves me $89 a month in bus fare!) and did my student loan stuff. Since school doesn't start until tomorrow there were NO lineups and everyone was PLEASANT! I was in such a great mood!!! Terri can confirm this... So can PC if she got my e-mail.
Today I also had a lovely day. S and I went to IKEA and Dollarama today, just for kicks. Now, let me explain: I HATE shopping, it gives me a headache and makes me ill. But I actually have fun when I go out with S. I got a toothbrush holder thingy so I don't have to keep mine on the counter here anymore. That's all I bought, because I am a poor, starving student.
So we were walking around all day. Then I got home and everything started to hurt. And I mean REALLY hurt. I already have a bad knee and the good knee is not so good. I also have a sort of bad back and some other problems like that. But this is just crazy. Moving hurts, not moving hurts. And it's not just muscle pain stuff. My skin actually hurts to. Wearing clothes is hurting me right now. So I decided to lie down for a while. Then I got extremely cold, but my skin felt hot. So I wonder if I got sick from J.
I just had a warm shower and that did help a little bit. But ouch! And joy, I have to go to school in ten and a half hours.
So that's why I'm in pain! But overall, despite all the hassle, pain and craziness, I'm doing pretty well.
This just took a million years to type though. Probably not a good idea to be sitting in front of the computer right now.

Right m'dear, Cyber Auntie here. Do as i say, not as i do.
First of all, even if you don't normally take painkillers, do so now, preferably aspirin or ibuprofen (so long as you knows you aren't allergic or get a bad reaction obviously) If you can't take those sorts, whatever painkiller you know is safe for you, best in these states is the ebove 'cos they are anti-inflamatory as well as painkiller. You may need to take them in the recommended dose for the next 24 hours or so, better pack some into your
Do No & i mean No as in zilch, nada, rien unnecessary strenuous work, sod making beds, lifting things, whatever isn't absolutely necessary to sustain the life of you & your animals. won't die if you don't clean his cage today! But don't stay sitting in one scrunched up position either, stretch gently & walk around slowly from time to time. Try putting a cushion behind you on your computer chair, that really helps with back ouchies!
If the hot shower helped, take another & another if necessary, then wrap up nice & snuggly in pajamas & dressing gown. when you are going off to school tomorrow, try & wear nice baggy comfy clothes (track suit or something)
You probably can't avoid doing loads of stuff on the first day back, but try & do it slowly, not dashing around.
If you have Arnica gel, put it on the bruises, it really really helps.
I'll discuss the other stuff on MSN where we can use foul language & scream!!!!

I'm in a worse position than a computer chair right now. I'm sitting on my mattress on the floor. Very uncomfortable indeed.
And I won't do any unnecessary work (probably... well, we'll see what needs to be done).
Anyways, I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll sleep it off.
And you're the only one screaming on msn. I have no idea why you are so frustrated.

Am too! Did you forget how wonderful I am? I look good in any outfit.
And all these threats? Really, is that fair to do that a poor sick and injured person?

Think of it as Applied Homoeopathy. If you're in pain, a bit more pain should make it go away...
But never mind that. Fruit fly? Ugh. *shudders*

Well I listened to Terri and found some painkillers and they did nothing. I had a tylenol 3 with codeine and I was still up for hours and in pain. And I have to leave for school in 15 minutes, joy! I have an eleven hour day today, and that's it as a shortened say because it's the first day back.

If you can find anything with naproxen sodium in it (brand name is Naprosin, and it's found in an OTC tablet called Aleve over here), that has anti-inflammatory as well as analgesic effects. I rarely take any kind of pain reliever, but I use that one for migraines (I only take codeine for asthma and bronchitis, it doesn't do much for me in way of pain relief but has wonderful anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects) and it works pretty well. You can take two to three tablets a day for up to a week, if need be. And don't drink any alcohol while you're bruised- it'll just make it worse.
I've tried arnica and it's never worked for me, but for bruising, I apply cold packs intermittently for a day or two, and that helps minimize them, as well as making them hurt less.
Fruit flies are gross. I occasionally see one or two flitting around in the apartment, but never an infestation. Your cousin sounds like a real class act. The larva can only survive in moist, decaying organic matter, so make sure your room is clean and dry before you move them back in. Can you rent a carpet shampooer? That'd be a huge help. And that piggy cousin should have to pay for it.
Oh man, I'm a moron!
fundamentallyflawed Posted Sep 6, 2007
I had to rent a steam cleaner before I moved in last summer because he used to live in the basement by himself way back when. (And that was waaaay worse!) I can't afford it now, but I intend to do heavy duty cleaning without one. I basically have to help him move (the room is still full somehow, he has a lot of stuff) and then I have to pretty much move out of my room to take the wall down and clean everything properly.
So it turns out classes didn't start today. I wasted 4 hours on the bus and about a half hour at school. Then I got home and cleaned some windows, was on the phone, ate and now I'm on here and probably going to do a bit of writing later. Fun times!
Oh man, I'm a moron!

I found a in the street.
And my back hurts.
And i may be joining a wheelchair basketball team.
And i have a nasty bruise on my arm, which i haven't put arnica on, so do as i say, not as i do.

As long as you're sitting down *resting* while you're confused, that'll be acceptable.
Anold, on the other hand, is completely unacceptable.

*sigh*
My view for what it's worth Anold:
I understand posting when pissed, as do many of us, BUT if you can just conjure up a braincell to think "hang on, is this maybe not just unintelligable (which is OK!) but actually possibly going to upset someone (unacceptable) & actually confuse the hell out of most people (just effing baffling)"....you can Rest In peace.
Good that you apologise later but meanwhile people may get hurt.
