Eatsmice is from my two cats and a desire to have an unusual email address that so far has translated to icq as well.
Pickles and Marbles are the beasties of the moment, Pickles because she's the colour of Branston Pickle (a UK brand) and Marbles cos she looked like a little bag of coloured marbles when she was wee.
Read about anyting Sci-fi, fantasy and vampires, from Pratchett and Ian Banks (and M) to Robin Hobb and Anne Rice.

Looking at your list of authors, you probably would enjoy Tad Williams very much. Look for Tailchaser's Song. That's the best place to start. He has a cat character named Eatsbugs in it, which is why you're name caught my eye.

My cat, George (after the old Bugs Bunny "I will love him and hug him and pet him and squeeze him and call him George") is sadly living with my parents in Wyoming because our apartment complex demands that cats be declawed. Fortunately, I have friends here who have six cats who need plenty of attention. They are my serogate fur-balls.
