Pointing a real high pressure (30 bar, 3000l/min) firehose at someone at close range is not a good idea, given that a single person could have trouble controlling it. Just the hydrant without intermediate pump would be around 3 bar pressure which would still make you extremely wet even if you manage to stay upright.

That's a very good point, presumably they were using a replica that they use to entertain children at fetes, do charity car washes, against local politicians threatening to cut the fire brigade budget, that sort of thing.

I know that kind of thing - the fire departments around here all have one. And little cutout houses for practising.
