I've seen the 'opera tenet' magic square before but didn't realise it could be used to protect cattle.

I wondered who used the expression 'you have one of the best minds of the 13th Century', but I found it http://www.forbes.com/sites/johnfarrell/2012/02/13/rick-santorum-and-the-13th-century

I think that line was stolen from Franz Werfel in 'Jakobovsky und der Oberst', but he may have mentioned a different century for the Polish colonel.
