Finally, my Create project - Hidden Gems - is written up!

Please note that I don't often get a chance to work on this so although I appreciate all comments I may not be able to make the changes quickly. Young smiley - cupid is being rather erratic with his naps so I have to take my moments when I can get them!

Thanks everyone,

Vip

Hi Vip,
Nicely written piece. I've been on a walk through the woods once and don't know it well enough to add anything except that on the lane above the monastery you can find White-letter Hairstreak butterflies. They're in the tops of the elm trees mainly, but I've seen them in the tops of ash and sycamores too. It's actually the only place I've seen them in Shropshire, though I've seen one caterpillar on Earls Hill. At a place where the elms were about to die off from Dutch Elm disease, poor thing.

Really lucky people, like the OH, have seen one nectaring on flowers at the side of the lane. I'll be trying again this summer!

The lane's quite good for butterflies - nice wide sunny flowery verges!

Anyway, extra info if you want to use it.

Excellent! (I was delighted to see you link to the National Heritage List site too – I like doing that).

A couple of minor spelling things. At the end you've written 'into into'. 'Defense' should be 'Defence'. You could also consider linking to articles like:

Great to read something by you again!

LL Waz - smiley - cool I'll try and get that in there.

Bluebottle - Aaw, thankyou. smiley - blush And thanks for the comments. Given that I wrote the Stranded one you'd've thought I'd've linked to it... smiley - laugh

Hi Vip

How lovely to see you back here! smiley - biggrin It's quite like old times. I didn't have the internet when my babies were tiny, but remember reading a lot of newspapers and learning how to do cryptic crosswords while they slept. Let's hope to see you here now and again in those peaceful moments. < crosses fingers >

Re the Entry itself.

I have no idea how to pronounce Haughmond. Knowing the vagaries of English place name pronunciation, it could be any way from 'Hoffmond' to 'Hawmond' or even 'Haufmond' Perhaps a footnote might be useful please?

The other suggestion is related to the format. At the moment you've got a brief intro followed by lots of headers, which are themselves very short, even just single sentences. I wondered if you restructured the intro a little, and then followed this by all the individual components to Haughmond Hill, but perhaps using subheaders? Pliny - the version that our non-registered readers will see shows subheaders up perfectly by the way.

Then you have a nice final section which rounds it off nicely.smiley - ok

Apart from that, it's a lovely read and I am sure will encourage people to take a walk there.

I've put in the pronunciation. It's hor-mund, by the way. smiley - smiley I thought it might be how-mund when I first lived here.

We've got subheaders back! Yippee! I've gone through and amended the header/subheaders. I haven't changed the layout other than that, so please let me know if you think the changes I have made are enough or if you think it could do with a bit more tweaking.

Thanks!

Thanks! that was quick. I don't have any more comments.

For your next task, put smiley - cupid in his pushchair and go and grab a photo or two? I hear the sun is possibly still shining in the UK?

Lovely to read this. I used to live a short walk from here, and it's a beautiful spot. I discovered because there was (is?) a geocache concealed on the side of the hill facing the town. It's really lovely, and if you're quiet you can see the wild deer that live there. Thanks for stimulating a happy memory. smiley - ok

Lanza - I actually already have a couple of photos. I'll email them in if/when this is accepted, and see if the Artists can cope with my poor photography skills.

Hoo - Glad to be of service. I'll see if I can work in the deer as well. smiley - cheers

Crickey, since his jabs smiley - cupid has been sleeping a lot, and I'm feeling very accomplished. While researching for another Entry I've founda picture of the folly! Admittedly it's from a long way away, in the background of a canal bridge, but you can see it dominated the hill.
