I'm not sure if you're a new Researcher or a returner, so on the offchance you are brand new I'll leave you my usual message. smiley - smiley

Welcome to h2g2. My name is Vip, and I'm of of the Assistant Community Editors, known as <./>ACEs</.>. We try to speak to everyone who signs up to make sure they're OK, offer them a cup of tea smiley - tea, that kind of thing.

Hello and welcome to h2g2, the place where you contribute to create the ever-expanding Guide to Life, the Universe, and Everything. You've just joined one of the friendliest and welcoming communities on the internet - congratulations!

By signing up to h2g2 you've created your own Space, where you can keep track of Entries you have written, conversations you are in, and tell the world a little about yourself.

Entries on h2g2 come in two flavours. Anyone can write ordinary entries by using <./>UserEdit</.> or clicking on the Write an Entry bottom on the left hand menu bar. Edited Entries are ordinary entries that have been through our PeerReview system, had a polish by one of our Sub-Editors, and finally published in glory on our Front Page. If you want to read some of our fabulous Entries for inspiration, try out the Infinite Improbability Drive, which will take you to a <./>RandomEditedEntry</.>. If you want to contribute to the Edited Guide, head over to Peer Review to find out more - reviewers and writers are always welcome!

h2g2's very own newspaper can be found at <./>ThePost</.>, where you can keep up to date on site news and also read some of the creative and interesting articles that our Researchers write.

Your Space on h2g2 is also a place where you can tell others about your h2g2 persona. Click on the 'Edit Page' button to write something about how you found us, what you hope to do on here, and anything else you want to share. You can type away in plain text, but you can also jazz it up by using GuideML - have a look at the GuideML Clinic at A187229 for more information. There's also a Journal feature for you to keep us all informed about what's going on in your life. Your Space really is your home on h2g2.

You can find conversations by exploring the site and other people's Spaces, but the main port of call is <./>Askh2g2</.>, where you can pose questions large or small and join existing threads.

Finally, there are several different ways of viewing the site; click in 'Settings' at the top of the page to choose between the cool, blue beauty of Classic Goo, the clean, clutter-free Alabaster, or the bright and functional Brunel, which has a couple of extra features.

If you need any help or advice, head over to the h2g2 FAQs or leave a message for the ACEs.

All the best, and welcome to h2g2!

Hi Vip
Thanks for the welcome.
I'm a very old researcher, and Salonista, who decided to re-register when Noohootoo came onstream.
For some unfathomable reason - at least, to me - I seem to have acquired the moniker keaboo and a different U # to the one assigned when I re-registered.

Kea seems willing to try and untangle this so I've emailed her as requested.

Teuchter! smiley - biggrin Glad to have you back, sorry about the account tangle. Glad you've got in touch with the Gurus, they know which buttons to press (once they've sorted out the tangle, of course!).

I look forward to seeing you around the site again.

It seems there are still some fankles. All very frustrating - but a small problem in the general scheme of things considering what the techie folk have had to do to get Noohootoo up and running.

At least I don't have to think up a Hallowe'en disguise.
