The BBC changed it's news website a few weeks ago and (it would seem) not just the layout.
As a rule, the first thing I do, when I start my computer in the morning, is to skim through the news (BBC, Telegraph, Guardian, FT, Washington Post and Google news etc). I read most of the headlines and might click on items that are either 'important' or look interesting.
It dawned on me yesterday that I hadn't 'clicked' on a single news item on the BBC for days – in fact, very few since they changed the layout.
I can't believe that they have totally changed the content, so it must be that it is now presented in a format that either doesn't attract my attention or is, in some way, unappealing (to me).
There's a lot more to web site design than meets the eye.

I agree. I find it quite an irritating layout. I hope I get used to it eventually, as BBC News is one of the best sites for this sort of thing.
It always annoys me when supermarkets move everything around, but hunger usually forces me to learn the new locations.

Ever since I read Vance Packard's 'The Hidden Persuaders' I have avoided supermarkets like the plague! But supermarkets do that for a good (for them) reason. I can't see the reasoning behind the BeeBs changes though. If there are any 'improvements' I can't for the life of me think/see what they are.

I was watching a TV show about the Natural History Museum in London recently. In the 1970s it was a stuffy, dusty establishment with lots of things mounted in display cases, but all the labelled information was written such that only academics could understand them. Then, towards the end of the century, it turned into what amounts to a kids' adventure playground, with large, brightly coloured yet moronic interactive exhibits, and no sign of any specimens to go and wonder at. The current thinking is to get it back to where it was before, as hardly any of their collection is on show now.
