Herenna - southpaw for now Started conversation Nov 19, 2012
Previously this month, I mentioned altering a dress and being about to go away for a few days (the weekend which has just gone). The saga continues...
Batteries were tracked down in a local shop, as was a pair of smart enough shoes (dark brown suede wedges, marked down), which saved me half a day. And there was time to do a henna gloss. That might sound like a lot of effort, but it's easier than trying to find a foundation which matches my winter skin and has the same effect of not making me look goth pale by contrast with dark clothing.
After using a sugar and oil scrub twice in 2 days on my arms and legs, the post scarlet fever peeling skin was still visible enough to need 2 pairs of fairly sheer tights to stop bits flaking off and to even out skin colour. I spent an hour trying to get a subtle smokey eyed look - not easy considering I'd packed no brushes, had a tiny mirror, and just one double-headed applicator.
Meanwhile, my beloved had merely run a brush through his hair, put on a clean shirt, trousers, and shoes and he was ready.
Oh yes... the group photo. After all that, it didn't happen. But a lot of photos were taken. There was a meal together though, which went remarkably well, even if it went on from mid afternoon until about 8pm or so. Very civilised, and the pub/restaurant was very good about the several small children (mostly well behaved), including providing a children's menu which was a compromise between the adults' menu and the usual child-friendly options of junk food and chips.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
