I suppose that as one of the resident (ie too much time on their hands) hikers I should say Hi! So, Hi!
Hope you settle in OK, don't worry about the wallpaper, you can always paint over that, but do worry about that strange smell in the first floor loo. We've tried everything but it just won't go away. Still, try to make yourself at home.

Oh yeah, any questions that you might have, just click on the don't panic button in the goo or ask someone that is wandering around and not looking lost. That is if you can find them, last we heard they'd gone out for a sandwich.

Also do you live near the coast? Our family goes to Cape Hatteras every other year and I love it there.

Hi Kat, thanks to you and everyone else for making me so welcome. I live about 2-3 hours from the coast so I'm not exactly near, but I'm not far enough to escape the hurricanes either. Cape Hatteras...Im sure you know they've just moved the lighthouse. I myself love Bear Island the best, can't say off the top of my head where it is in comparison to Hatteras but it can't be too far...it's a very small, obscure national park. Definitely visit it sometime, its beautiful and well worth the trip. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna write an article about it. Thanks for the inspiration.

I live in Corpus Christi, TX, and had to run away a few weeks back when hurricane Bret came calling. We got lucky and avoided major damage, but it was enough of a scare for me to want to move somewhere safer.......like the moon.

I think it's pretty neat how the editors have attached a "new today" tag to people who are.....well.....new today. It gives us old folk a chance to say hi to the new folk.

Hopefully it won't drive you away

Wow, glad you didn't wash away during Bret...we were a little nervous here but it never really came our way. Worst trouble was occasional power glitches (who knows why). Three years ago when Fran hit us we lost power for a week. It wasn't so bad on the second day when we had to eat all the food in the fridge, but after that it got a little old.

All the attention has been a bit overwhelming, but all the folks on the system seem pretty friendly. You're not gonna drive me off that easily.

Peter - this is reference to Rounders match (which is like baseball) that we held in London - I met Pastey in person there he has the ability to talk the hind legs off a donkey......

Well if thats the case I think I'm glad I didn't go to the rounders match.
