I'm doing a music journal where I'll throw out favourite stuff as it comes along.
Just now Ravel's Balero

I'm a music fanatic but very fussy.
(Anyone else should they be so inclined can post theirs.)

And I always think the damn thing should go on much longer...

I left a post on your blog but it's not showing. I'll try again.

Hi, Effers.
Sorry to intrude, but I'm a music lover and actively seek out threads on hootoo with "music" in them. I hope you don't mind my showing up here?
I'll gladly share some links to some favorites, assuming you don't give a shit if we have different tastes, but I wondered if there was anything particular you loved or disliked? Before I post any links...

I love you showing up here.
The idea is for people to post what means a lot to them.
I have incredibly wide tastes. It's not genre for me...it's the stuff of it.

Fantastic!
Some people can be very snobby about genres.
I'll close my eyes and see which favorites come to mind tonight...

Brilliant.
I just watched one of the most gruellingly emotional dramas I can remember watching....Birdsong, based on the Sebastian Falkes novel about WW1....thank god the ending was optimistic... Sorry I'm overcome and lost for words.
But back on topic...yeah bring on some music.
Seriously, it's to do with what *you* like...

I've never seen Birdsong. I think I saw the book at the library recently, though, so perhaps I'll add it to my to-read list.
There's a fair bit of ruckus going on here this evening, which is making it hard for me to focus my mind on music... but I'm subscribed here and I'll be back. Thanks, Effers. Music is one of my favorite things- both to enjoy, and to share.
In the meantime, hope you have a good night!

Hey I meant post whenever. No pressure. Take your time.
I do recommend the Birdsong drama though if you can get that in the States. I can't do reading aside from poetry these days because of problems to do with my brain It's hard to believe how much I used to be able to read.
I remember from the past that we are both big Cronenberg fans.

I remember discovering you were also a Cronenberg fan, though I can no longer remember what the thread was. It's always amusing to me when I stumble across someone else who likes something I also enjoy.
Fortunately, I am able to do reading, as I take the train to and from work and I'm not always seated next to someone talkative (I find people are more chatty when there's standing room only, and in the mornings I usually get a good bit of reading in). I find it much harder to do when there are a lot of distractions. But then I'm easily... oh, shiny!
Birdsong might find its way over here, but I'd expect it to take a while. BBC America usually runs some TV programs concurrently with UK airtimes, but I don't have cable TV so I wait till anything I want to see has a DVD release. I've added it to my list of programs to watch for.
But of course I haven't shared any music yet...
Off to get ready for work now but I'll see what pops into my mental jukebox today. Hope you have a good day.

Effers,
For some reason, my blog thought you were a spammer, so it didn't show your comments. But I looked through the spam list and found two of yours, and rescued them, so they're showing now.
I don't listen to much music, but now and again I find a piece and listen repeatedly. Recently it's been the Bolero you posted, and "Naughty". http://timothy.green.name/links/matilda-naughty.

I'd like to track down an actual Edith Nylon album one of these days.

I've loved the Undertones since I was a kid.
I'm not sure how loud you like it, but I'm a middle aged punk, and we had a handful of really good bands here in Chicago.
Two of my favorites, have seen them play live hundreds of times...

I like most music very loud if I'm giving all my attention to it...well if I like it obviously
Been listening to Ravi Shankar stuff this morning.
Found this great recording of a tabla he did at Woodstock. Apparently 95% of a tabla is improvised. In my present mood I find it very relaxing.

Also a raga

I don't understand in any theoretical way about the music I'll honestly say but this type of stuff speaks straight to me..
