Taff sends his love, by the way, Effers.
(we had a bit of a chin wag on Facething about things hootoo.)

That's the best post I had on this place for a while besides yours.
(I am part of FB...but only go there once every few months. Email me how to contact him...I hate FB so I might not...but it would be good to know how to.
Give him a massive amount of love back from me in the meantime...if you're there.

I'm still doing the olive oil thing. It's 48 hours now and no change.
I really am scared. But they said to do it for a week. It must have turned into a rock.
BigAl did you ever get it this bad?

What you describe is exactly what I feel when I have the problem. The bad news is that, once you've had to have your ears syringed once, you have to get them done regularly (i.e. once or twice/year)

I can't tell you what it means to have a fellow sufferer of it.
And I massage a bit once the oil goes in. I'm thinking it might actually be fractionally better.
And that's hardly bad news... it means there's a cure

Blimey the most amazingly wonderful thing just happened. It suddenly coming back. It's still way down...but its stereo hearing again of sorts.
The rock is gradually melting at last.
It seems like something simply amazing.

Blimey we do all take so much for granted. Stereo hearing is fantastic...

I'm so glad it's working out!
That's two good news stories in one day!
When my eardrum popped I was `pretty much deaf on that side until the fluid drained and it healed, but it gradually came back and I was completely aware of what was going on. It must have been hell not knowing. But I'm hoping you'll have that happy, sudden hearing gain when the syringing happens.

I'm up all night now listening to music...high as a kite...god its good.
Stereo is a fascinating thing. That doubling that gives *depth* to things.

have I mentioned that I only have (garbled) peripheral vision in one eye? 3D movies don't work for me. They're just annoying 2D movies.
The ear problem
Effers;England. Posted Dec 8, 2011
And tomorrow I'm going to make a list of things that would really hurt and upset me if I lost them.
I cannot believe how brilliant it is to regain my hearing properly...its getting better with a rush now.
The ear problem
Effers;England. Posted Dec 8, 2011
No you haven't mentioned that. And I've never watched a 3D movie.
Sorry I'm just suddenly too stupidly happy to engage with anything...
I am re-born

I'd much rather have stereo hearing than stereo vision . . .
but then, I don't remember ever having stereo vision.

And think of how wonderful *touch* is.
Man I loved watching that Bronovski again today.
We have to touch people...
Oh god they will do me for flooding on my own journal soon
It's Friday I'm in Love..

Yes I'm with you about the stereo hearing...that incredible depth of emotion it gives you.
Obviously vision is fantastic...but I couldn't imagine living without music and sound.
(You know Beethoven went deaf. At primary school when the teacher told the story about that...I had a severe panic attack..the first of many. But that started it..and I have no idea why.)

The ear is nearly 'normal' now. But it's made me realise that I've been half deaf in that ear for sometime and didn't realise.
But I must sort out the syringing.
I'm meant to go back in a few days. I feel a bit scared how *clear* everything might suddenly be, because also I have a funny feeling the left hand one might also be a bit blocked.
For a long time people have said I've been 'shouting'. Not in nasty way..but I'm realising I've been a bit deaf...but it shows how humans can compensate quite easily for a problem and not even realise they have it.
We are a pretty amazing species.
