Slept in my new tent in garden last night.
Was very windy and the noise of the wind blowing around outside was ace.
The tent is as stable as hell. It didn't move an inch..so it was like sleeping in the eye of the storm.
It was fun.

Did you actually sleep?
I hope you did, and I hope you had the best of dreams.
I'll be packing it in for the night soon -- but indoors. There's a bit too much snow out there for my taste.

Yes I slept...it was very soothing...and quite amazing how stable that tent is.
It's something to do with that shape how wind is channelled around it..providing you have all the pegs and guys in place.
The geodesic design.

I cheated and went back to bed indoors.
That particular tent has a double rod direction pattern. 2 long ones curve and arc length ways, and curve and arc width ways. Apparently that gives maximum rigidity to the form...which then interacts with the positioning of the pegs and guys.
Also it has vents on the outside which allow good air circulation inside..so it never feels sweaty. The vents are inverted..so it just feels like the thing breathes.
It is *everything* that SAS tunnel wasn't, both in clever rational design..and emotionally, because of its architecture inside.

You know, people tell me my little city lot feels like being down in the Ravine (the forest down the street), but that garden outdoes my personal jungle by a country mile.
