I know it sounds a bit naff and inadequate as a title...but I can do that to smiley - snork

But it is quite relevant as we are on the verge of the great big abyss of noohootoo. (that's meant ironically I think..)

i don't really know what it means even...if Plus ça change plus c'est la même chose, is true.

*in case of yikesing, translation being, (The more things change, the more they stay the same)*

So do the French have it sown up with that phrase? Well yes maybe on some level things do stay the same..the French had a revolution though to learn this..our tradition in Britain has been for slow change since the English civil war....and christ the centuries before that, post Reformation were truly bloody.

I'm getting a bit away from the personal though.

And I'm keeping away from 'Ask' so this is really personal.

But to me change of any kind is always creative in some way..i think even when it may appear destructive..if you face that.

I don't know what I'm saying here really..smiley - snork

But it feels more interesting than the last journal..and is yikes proof I hope.

Any contributors are welcome..from whatever tangent. Or not.

I'm bound to serial post later in any case.

(It doesn't belong here but I just looked at one of my many yikesed posts I now have..and one is for advertising' because I talked of contacting 'Dogster' (he's a researcher here mods, its his name).

Just ignore that though)

And just pretend you only read the OP.

Hopefully moderation is one change, when we leave the BBC which will very much be for the positive, an improvement.... from what I've seen and heard, the new site, will, basically look and behave pretty much as it does here, though we'll not have 'BBC' mentioned on each page, obviously... smiley - zensmiley - cuddle

I, well, William and I, did something very silly the other day...

We bought hats... matching hats.... bowler hats smiley - snorksmiley - whistlesmiley - silly The landlord at my local, and where William and I, during the day, are now often regular appearances.... didn't know what to make of it smiley - snork Just walking down the street.... I could hear an occasional 'Bowler hats', being uttered by a passer by to someone smiley - snorksmiley - silly

William, did, however, refuse to met me buy myself a large, pith helmut, complete with metal spike on the top smiley - snork

First time I've had a new hat in years... smiley - coolsmiley - silly

> basically look and behave pretty much as it does here,<

i hope not. i have such a vast number of yikesed posts in my inbox mostly from journal and message threads like you wouldn't believe.

I love hats. i have an Aussie bush hat i bought in the outback just north of Adeleide..which is well decorated with all manner of small shells I collected for the summer, and a Russian rabbit fur hat for the winter. I don't remeber the last time I went out without a hat.

smiley - snork when i went to the High Court the other day I was ordered to remove my Aussie bush hat.

To be serious though. i always like to aim for change. But you can't do it in a vacuum. If it makes no difference to anything or anyone around you, you will give up.

smiley - snork i suddenly realised what a totally pretentious load of nonsense this journal is..

I think the French have it spot on. Plus ca change, plus ce la meme chose (the more things change the more they stay the same, mods).

Oh, I meant the actual look/sppearance and the way the site works, technology wise will be more or less the same to start with... the moderation will be differnt from the get go, as it won't be the BBc, or whatever firm they use, doing the moderation, so, hopefully it'll be a lot more sensible smiley - zensmiley - magic

i don't know. Its got so bad of late for me with a lot of stuff I try to deal with here with best intentions..and its like endless kicks in the teeth with all the pedantic yikesing of journals on and off.

I will be studying the new house rules like its my degree finals.

When will we get them?

I guess they'll be up on the new site, as soon as it goes live.... They're broadly the same as the current ones, but without quite so much of the BBCs paranoia about not mentionin gproducts/advertising, and suchlike, but the main differnce will be in their implimentation; No longer by faceless external moderators, but instead by volenteers from the site itself, who know researchers and can hopefully be more fair and less eratic in moderating things... But there'll still be the same aspects of the horse rules to protect the site from legal action, which is things like defermation and posting links to illegal content and such like... smiley - weirdsmiley - zen It'll be alright... trust me... it'll not only be alright, it'll be a lot better than the current situation, and the houserules and suchlike ain't really*big documents or anything, so really not a great deal to remember or learn or look at smiley - zensmiley - cuddle

Well I hope you're right 2legs. It's got so bad of late..that I'm almost paranoid to write stuff in case it gets yikesed. I even sometimes use smiley - offtopic in my journal.

I use journals here a lot now as a way of dealing with strong emotions. Dealing with inner conflicts...all kinds of stuff like that. And when I keep feeling scared of the yikesing and wondering who on earth could be doing such a thing it builds tension up in me in a horrible way..and it'll come out somewhere else.

I think its horribly destructive. Especially when people know about my psychological vulnerability.
