Overgrown Victorian cemetry, oysters and prawns and hedges
Effers;England. Started conversation Jul 23, 2011
Had an excellent day. Took some photos of wonderfully sculpted hedges in my street..not topiary but strange rectangular shapes with curves as well..then went to fish mongers for more oysters also prawns.
Then went to the overgrown Nunhead Victorian cemetery. It really is a wonderful place..in the overgrown woods there are all these old gravestones at funny angles..and some wonderfully carved ones to do with all sorts of symbolism the Victorians had for death..all covered in moss and vines. Bought a book from a stall at the entrance about people buried there.
And there is a small area of graves of Commonwealth soldiers killed in WW1 - mostly Canadians and Kiwis..also a poignant remembrance to some 12 year old scouts who drowned off the Kent coast in about 1912.
I'm going back next week to take photos which I'll post.
I think I'll do a Guide Entry on it for noohootoo...hopefully it'll prove less controversial than the caddis fly larvae one
Then when I got home had a good chat with one of my neighbours across the street. She's such a nice person.
Oysters and prawns later
Hedges.
