On Saturday took the train to Cromer (2.5 hours, via Norwich) to meet my sister and her OH, who were there over the Bank Holiday weekend in their newish touring caravan. All started well: they met me at the station and off we went to Wroxham, where we had coffee while sheltering from showers and watching boats negotiate their way through the low, narrow bridge. From there we continued to Potter Heigham, and then back to the caravan site near Cromer.

Abandoned Plan A (barbecue) in light of the threatening clouds, and bro-in-law cooked dinner in the oven instead. Genuine Cromer crab as the starter, then steak etc, then strawberries and cream. Yum!

50mph shaking the caravan and awning for most of the night. Raging toothache. Sleeping on the sofa. Not the best night I've ever spent.

Sunday - started off with torrential rain, but gradually cleared up, so we had a nice jaunt to Sheringham, Holt, Blakeney ... and walked out part of the way to Blakeney Point. Decided not to stay a second night, so came back home and dosed myself with red wine and Ibuprofen - much better night!

Will have to try and get an emergency dental appointment this week, as I'm going to France at the weekend, and don't want to be suffering from toothache there.

Hmmm... not the best night? Ever read The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold? Waugh's finest. I'm having problems sleeping at the minute on account of Susan being at her mum's and the house being overrun with zombies &c &c. The weather here is boggin' and we had 'semi-submerged cars' flooding yesterday. Miah still wants out, mind.

Still, toothache, caravan, hurricane, sofa? Not nice.

Hope the teeth are put into a sufficient state to let you enjoy France .

No, haven't read that one - will put it on the never-ending list ...

Got a dental appointment for tomorrow afternoon, so fingers crossed she'll be able to sort something out. Otherwise, there's always Ibuprofen, which has been helping a lot since I got back.

Sorry to hear about the zombies, and the weather. Apparently there was a torrential downpour resulting in flash floods in Cambridge, while I was enjoying Norfolk: http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Home/Slideshow-Flooding-in-Cambridge-sparks-call-for-investigation-28082012.htm
See what happens when I go away? Not sure if I can risk France now, but will force myself ...

Just reporting on the tooth situation.

Got an appointment this afternoon with my usual (lovely) dentist. She had a good look, couldn't find anything, so did an X-ray. It's fantastic how quickly they can do them these days - I didn't even have to move out of the chair, and it was developed in 10 minutes. Anyway, she found an area of decay in a back tooth, hidden behind a crown. So I have a seven-day course of antibiotics and a half-hour appointment to look forward to in a couple of weeks' time. Luckily it's not the sort of antibiotic which means you can't drink alcohol, which would have put a bit of a damper on my trip to France!
