Went over to my sister's yesterday evening. She had been to visit her new granddaughter, and met me at the station on her way home. It was a lovely evening, so I sat in the garden drinking Pimm's and reading the paper, while she cut the grass. Then we had dinner (steak, new potatoes, ratatouille, followed by strawberries) and watched Wallander - at least I did, but I think F's attention wandered a bit, and her OH (away teaching a sailing course) phoned in the middle. She doesn't go a bundle on subtitled stuff ...

This morning she went for a swim, while I lounged around a bit, and then we went out to a garden centre nr Huntingdon, to get a new shrub to replace one that had died in her garden in last winter's frost. She got a very pretty Hebe. We had coffee there, and then continued to the marina at Buckden where her boat lives. Had lunch there, looking out over the marina, and then went for a walk round the marina and down to the nearby lock.

Next stop St Neot's where we walked round the riverside gardens and had an ice-cream. And finally to Great Barford where some friends of hers were moored - we strolled up to their boat and demanded cups of tea - and got them! After sitting in the sun with them for a while, she drove me back to Baldock station just in time for the train to Cambridge - a semi-fast one, so I was home in just over 30 minutes.

Now pottering around preparing for work tomorrow. Have to walk there and back, as I handed back the hire bike yesterday, but my new bike should be delivered to the shop in time for me to pick it up on the way home. If it hasn't come, the guy in the shop says he'll lend me a bike until the new one arrives. smiley - smiley
