Spent the day at my old school today, for work. It was their 'UCAS day' for the Lower VI (Yr 12), and they had invited several speakers from universities, as well as a number of ex-pupils, now undergrads. I had been asked to do four talks, two on personal statements and two on applying to Oxbridge. As it's a GDST school, I thought the numbers interested in Oxford/Cambridge were rather disappointing.
Anyway, my talks seemed to go down well, and since I travelled up there yesterday afternoon, I was also able to catch up with one of my old schoolfriends for a drink in the evening, before checking into the Premier Inn just down the road from the school. Said schoolfriend had a hip replacement last year, and is now looking very fit.
Felt obliged to wear smart shoes for the occasion, and although I changed back into flat sandals before heading home, my feet still hurt.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
