Bumps

Post 1

Just waved goodbye to my niece M (or niece-with-dog, as she has become known to the Sunday Lunch bunch), who came for the weekend. We had a good time - she is my goddaughter and we have been good friends since I took her to her first music festival when she was about 13 or 14. She lives on a narrowboat near Derby and has a rescue greyhound.

Anyway, she arrived yesterday lunchtime and in the afternoon we went to watch the May Bumps http://www.cucbc.org/bumps. These are rowing races between the Colleges and are good fun to watch, especially if you know some of the people who are rowing. It was mainly fine, and in spite of a few sharp showers, we were able to enjoy a nice walk along the river from Chesterton to Fen Ditton and a pint of cider in the garden of the Plough.

In the evening we got Chinese takeaway and watched some rubbish TV. And today we took the dog out for a walk on Coldham's Common, and then went for a Sunday roast with the usual crew, who were all very taken with the dog - M says she'll just send her on her own next time!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
