Not enough to do

It's really quiet in the office at the moment, to the extent that I'm having to manufacture jobs to have something to do. Today's tasks:
- sent emails to all the offerholders not doing GCE A-levels (i.e. those taking the International Baccalaureate, French Bac, Romanian Bac etc), reminding them that we will not automatically receive their results through UCAS, so they should make sure they send them to us;
- likewise for any that have English language qualifications as part of their offer conditions;
- started doing spot-checks on the exam certificates/results slips they have sent in, to make sure none of them exaggerated their academic record slightly in their application form;
- replied to one or two emails booking places at our Open Day;
- checked through our teachers' email list, sending individual emails to addresses which had failed in the last bulk mailing, to make sure it wasn't just a school firewall blocking bulk mailings...

All tedious stuff, but keeps me busy.

After work, went to the launch of '23 Things 2.0' http://cam23things.blogspot.com/. This is an initiative started last year by librarians in Cambridge University and college libraries, to learn how to do 23 things in the field of social media, which would be useful for their work. Since I have many librarian friends, I have been following this with interest and am registering for the proramme this summer - at least until I'm overtaken by A-level results. Watch this space!
