Spent a couple of hours at a flash mob/read-in in Cambridge city centre today to draw attention to the possible (probable, being realistic) closure of branch libraries. We handed out leaflets about the nearby Central Library and encouraged people to go in and borrow a load of books. There were several smallish groups of us in the area and we got lots of very positive feedback from passers-by. Some reading aloud was done - some of it by me. I moved from one group because I got fed up with listening to "The Hobbit" - which I have never liked - so I went off and joined another group and read an A S Byatt short story (The Eldest Princess). I don't think anybody except me really heard much of it, but I enjoyed it anyway!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
