h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

At least it didn't start snowing here until late afternoon, so I was able to get into town and buy the last few presents. Still waiting for two to be delivered: one charity 'virtual present' and one for my boss from iwantoneofthose dot com - if it doesn't arrive in time, I have got a small substitute present (toiletries) as a stop-gap. Was forced to go into Lush to buy something my sister had requested - held my breath most of the time. Hate that shop!

We got off quite lightly in the last snowfall a few days ago - only a light covering, and the streets had mostly cleared by the time it froze. However there are now a good few inches, so I expect the roads and pavements will be pretty treacherous tomorrow. Bike brakes seized up again yesterday, and the lock was also frozen. Walked to work and got a lift home. I am preparing myself for more walking next week.

Have generated most of the decision letters now, and will finish on Monday morning, so that we can get them all ready for posting before College closes for the Christmas/New Year break. All colleges post the letters on the same day (early January). The other major task to be done by next Wednesday is to prepare the files of the applicants we are putting into the inter-college pool.

My new sofa finally arrived on Thursday - hurray! - so I'm looking forward to lounging on it watching the Strictly final this evening.
