Just started this and pressed the wrong key and it disappeared - !
Last three films of the festival:
Two in the Wave (Deux de la Vague) - http://www.cambridgefilmfestival.org.uk/films/2010/two-in-the-wave-deux-de-la-vague/
Interesting documentary (did I mention this seems to be the year of the documentary?) about Godard and Truffaut, with lots of old clips. Think it may have been made for educational purposes, because the voiceover was very clear and quite slow.
Soul Boy - http://www.cambridgefilmfestival.org.uk/films/2010/soul-boy/
Delightful little Kenyan film, about a 14 year-old boy, whose dad says his soul has been stolen by a witch with a cow's leg. The son goes to search for the soul, and meets various adventures and challenges. Made by young Kenyan trainee film-makers, in collaboration with Tomas Tykwer ('Run Lola Run'). The African actors, especially the two young leads, were great, the Europeans less impressive, but I think they may have been people involved in the project, rather than professional actors.
Pumzi - a South African sci-fi short, shown before Soul Boy. I've never seen an African sci-fi film before, so it was fascinating. Very beautiful and very thin black female lead. Not much in the way of sets: impersonal lab, or desert.
Rembrandt's J'Accuse (Peter Greenaway) - http://www.cambridgefilmfestival.org.uk/films/2010/rembrandts-jaccuse/
Seemed appropriate because I've just been in Amsterdam. Loved it! I haven't seen Greenaway's 2007 Nightwatching, but will now look out for it. Dramatised documentary, exploring the history of the famous painting. Only annoying element was Greenaway pronouncing 'j'accuse' as 'z'accuse' throughout!

You should try District 9. It's a full-length South African sci-fi feature film. Released last year. It was a bit yucky and I couldn't watch it a second time but worth seeing.

Hya Annie. I'm taking note. Our local cinema has a short season of French films so I'm hoping they'll repeat the experience. Think it's White Material up next. Probably ought to go just to encourage them but I'm not sure I can take another evening of Isabelle Huppert excelling at bleak and blank.

White Material is very good, pj - but definitely bleak. I love Claire Denis's films, but they often tend to be rather dark. The exception was '35 shots of rum' - lovely story of African father and daughter living in Paris.
