Woke up at 5.30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so spent a couple of hours lurking in ML and looking up possible flights for a short break away in September (after the last Open Day of this year and before the next admissions round starts).

Why is it that I always seem to wake up super early at weekends, when I could be having a lie-in, and then have to drag myself out of a deep sleep on weekday mornings? smiley - wah

Anyway, after falling asleep over the paper at lunchtime, I decided it would be good for me to go for a walk, so I walked briskly along the towpath to the Camboaters' Open Day. This year's is the second such event organised by the people who have narrowboats on residential moorings, and last year I went into quite a lot of the boats - very interesting, as my niece also lives on one, but up in Derbyshire. There didn't seem to be so many boats this year, not so many visitors either, but I think they'd drummed up a lot of support last year, because the Council was threatening to ban residential boats because they got in the way of the University boat crews!

The ban has been averted for the time being, but I don't think the story is over yet.

I've got a cinema ticket for this evening, but I'm now feeling really sleepy so I may not go. Not helped by the fact that I heard a review of the film (Dear Wendy) on R4 yesterday evening and it was not very enthusiastic.

(replying to myself!)

Just got back from the film - what a waste of time and money. Very silly plot and extremely slow-moving. Definitely not recommended.
