Weekend on a boat

Post 1

My sis and I went up to Derbyshire on Saturday and spent a couple of nights with my niece, on board the narrowboat where she lives. It rained on the way there, but cleared up just before we arrived (late afternoon). Went out for a walk with her dog - a lovely rescue greyhound - along the towpath.

On Sunday we'd been hoping to go out on the boat, but it was very windy, and niece didn't fancy trying to navigate out of the marina against the wind, and then compete with all the Bank Holiday/half-term traffic on the canal, so we went out in the car instead. Drove to the Roches (sp?) - famous local beautyspot. Fabulous views from rocky outcrops. Had a late Sunday lunch in the pub near the marina - excellent quality and value. Also delicious chocolate fudge cake for dessert. Needed another walk after that!

Came back yesterday, and am gradually working through my to-do list. Have bought rail ticket for my hol next week, now at the library checking email (and writing this) as my home internet connection is not yet up and running. On the way here my bike gears started playing up, so I think the bike shop will be the next stop. smiley - sadface

That sounds nice. There's something in the idea of living in a houseboat-type thingie. Viv Stanshall lived in one. Mind you, he died in one too...

The Roches? as in 'we are Maggie, Terri and Sozzi...'

Good news, I note, on the computer front.

Yes, very good news on computer front. Have now got network cable and able to access internet again from home - hurray! Getting used to the laptop keyboard, but defeated by touchpad, so have attached mouse.

Next stage will be to get wireless router set up, so that I can use it in the living room. That will probably have to wait until after holiday (next week).
